Default Engine/Tranny Lash

If I pop the clutch in my A4, either off the line or at speed in 1st, 2nd 3rd, It feels as if my engine is going to drop out the bottom of my car. This cannot be normal. Also, if I want to launch my car off the line I get a grinding/rubbing noise that sounds pretty menacing. My car doesn't have a check engine light on and no codes in vag com. As a daily driver just grandma-ing it around, it runs and drives great. Sometime I'd like to really get on it without fear of breaking things. I was thinking maybe I need engine and snub mount bushings replaced. Any definitive indicators I can check out to make sure? Any help would be appreciated.

You drive a sedan not a race car....... Its not designed for launching or dropping the clutch.

Best place to start is with the nose mount. But at the same time..... A grinding noise is rotational, And if the car is not moving.... usually means clutch or transmission issues

Default same problem.

I also experience the same problem. Like you said around town you baby her a bit to get her smooth but when I want to open her up a bit its always an issue and it bangs into gear. Any other input?

If you are still running stock mounts you will want to upgrade those to a set of stiffer aftermarket mounts like the Stern or 034 Density mounts. Might also want to look at upgrading the rear diff mount with an Apikol mount. All of this will help stiffen up the driveline.

If you like launching you might also need to upgrade your clutch.

LOL that is way too funny. AWD is perfect for launching. I have been doing it in A4's for over 10 years now and most of the times make V8 owners feel very sad about their cars. lol
