I just bought a 2002 A4 V6 Q and it didn't come with owners manual.

What is the quantity engine oil I can put in?

How can I tell the maximum level reading from the dip stick?

My '02 book says 6.3 quarts for a V6. It says 3.7 quarts for my I4 but it takes more like 4 quarts with filter.

The oil is full when it is at the top of the hatch marks on the dip stick. Should not be over hatch.

Check oil when engine is off and it has sat for a minute or 2.

Did you look under the steering colum in the pocket for the owners manual? They are not in the glove box.

How much oil can depend on the filter you use too. When i did the oil in my 3.0 it took very near 7 quarts with a OEM filter from the dealer...book says 6.3.

I just bought 7 Qts of Castrol Full Synthetic Oil. I will go to the dealer tomorrow and get an oil filter.

 

Make sure it's the German Castrol, only oil I use in my car.

 

I put 7 quarts of mobil 0w40 european formula, 4k on it and I'm about to change it because it was 7 months ago.
