Default Dumb question re: boost gauges

So we all know that having a boost gauge is a good idea on a turbo car in terms of diagnosing all sorts of potential problems and just generally being able to observe that your car is working properly. My question is this: the car already has a sensor that the ECU uses to log boost - is it possible to make the display that normally tells you what's on the radio or what track on your cd player you're listening to display boost pressure somehow? Seems like that'd be a nicer solution than the vent pod option or the steering column mount (which always looks to me as though it would obscure other gauges). Anyway, like I said, probably a dumb question, but it couldn't hurt to ask, right?

That is not a dumb question! I like the idea that we should be able to switch the boost guage on as we wish since the computer already gets that signal. For a company that can include things like motion sensors and headlight washers, why can't we have this important feature???? So where are the Audi Techs on this one??
