Default Differences between B6's

Yes I'm a B5'er but I'm on the market for another Audi. A TT or B6/B5 S4, so hear me out here. I've been looking at B6's and I've noticed that for 02's under 60k miles they can go for as low as $12k. And a 04 USP (S-Line) Quattro around the same miles is at least 17-22k. So my question is... besides the USP, what other differences are there between 02's, 03's and 04's? Same engine and turbo components? Did any year get a HO turbo? Because if its only the USP bodywork, wheels and spoiler I'm better of getting a cheaper 02 and doing the suspension and trim my way. But if there's something way different i.e. a different engine code, problems with turbo's, pistons, pins etc I'd watch out for that partiular year. BTW if I get a B6 I'm aiming for a A4 1.8t MT Quattro only. (Did they all come with 170hp stock?) Thanks for your comments!

Besides all the things you just mentioned some of the A4's came with a K03s in lieu of the K03. I don't know exactly when it happened but that is whatI was told.

All the B6 1.8T cars are 170 Hp from the factory as far as I know.

What's the difference between a K03 and a K03s?

Would there be a way to tell?

Also to Euro2nr, I believe it was 2004 and up, come with 6 speed trannys, my 03 has a 5 speed, and thats the ONLY decision I regret... Still love my baby though

K03S has dual fan blades. Easy to tell when you see the internals. I do not think any B6 did NOT come with the K03S.
There is a post on audiworld.com that explains the differences.
'02 B6 has slight ECu holdover from B5 and it is a little different.
04.5 started factor painted lowers on every model.
Somewhere in there, like arond '04, 6 spd could be had. Prior to then it was only 5 spd unless you got ultrasport or something.
I don't think '02 had a roof mount antenna. Possibly no sat radio capability either, I'd guess.
There are some other slight differences year to year, but that's about it.
Oh, yeah, sport model in '02 sat lower than sport model >'03. No one seems to know why but everyone on the other forums agrees with that.

Sweet! My 03 doesnt have the shark fin antenna, I thought it was integrated into the rear glass? Thats my guess as to the shoddy reception when the rear defroster is on, thank god for a 6 disc changer

Any way (without major expense) to switch it over to the shark-fin antenna? Or was that sattelite radio?

And, I have to say it, your car (pic in your sig?) Is absolutely beautiful.

Yeah, I agree about the pic. Very nice.
I have been told the SAT in the radio came on in 03.5. I just missed it.

Yeah I believe the K03s started in 01 which is why we got the 170hp bump

I don't use satalite radio and will probly be putting a roof spoiler so it wouldn't be missed.
Is the sport suspension same or higher than the 04 USP's?
Also, (this is talking bout down the road) how much would it be for a 6MT swap in a stock 5MT car? Obviously its a MT for an MT but I'm wondering if the ECU's programming will have problems with the extra gear. Just thinking wether that might be a future upgrade or if I'll be stuck with a 5MT.

BTW: what are the engine codes for the B6's? I tried searching and found nothing. I believe one is ATW or something.

USP's have 185HP versus the 170HP, sport suspension (I think it may be just slightly lower), and trust me its a lot stiffer. drove a stock a4 once and the USP's are way better. the USP also came with a tension bar across the engine bay. besides that, the rest is cosmetic (rims, s-line steering wheel, skirts, bumpers, etc.). Mine's FWD and 5 speed, all quattro USP's are 6 speed.

USP (aka Ultrasport) has NO engine or suspension difference from a regular sport. The differences are all cosmetic. The regular sport also has a strut bar. It runs along the back side of the firewall in front of the battery. The suspension is the same from sport to Ultrasport (USP). Also, what makes you think there is a horespower bump? There isn't. It's 170 (riiiiiight.... after drivetrain loss my bicycle has moe HP) for all B6.
Also, 6-speed isn't exclusive to USP. Sports in '04 could have 6-spd.
