RE: difference between 5 spd and 6 spd
my 5-speed stick is good for acceleration, as the gear ratios are shorter. 1st is short, 2nd will carry you to about 50 mph, 3rd is a bit shorter, and 4th and 5th are longer ratios. my 1.8T returns 41.1 miles per gallon on the highway after a 300 mile trip, so I dont think its that big of a difference.

haha all I know is that average city driving the display reads 23-28 and on the highway from knoxville to atlanta I got 41.1 by the time I got to atlanta, just by sticking to the speed limit. 5mph more than the speed limit on the way got me 37.
But yeah mine's a 5-speed, where did u hear they only had a 6?

40 mpg? What do you have a diesel a4. Not trying to be a dick but that is very unlikely, no matter what the computer reads. Considering our cars were rated under the old SAE standards, which are inflated by about 2-3mpg, our cars in real world highway driving would probaly deliver about 27mpg. Under the old standards , which were conducted at 55mph our cars are rated at 31 for FWD manual. I just think the trip computer is deceiving you. The only real way to determine mpg is to record your miles after a fill up.
