Question In-Dash NAV Installation Help

I'm thinking of buying the Pioneer AVIC-F700BT to install in my B6 ... however, is it as simple as just removing my current head unit and installing the new one?

I don't understand this "single-din", "double-din" stuff either, so what would I need to do to install this unti into my B6?

Also, does anyone know if the Pioneer AVIC can read from an external harddrive, and if so what capacity is the max? I know it has a USB port, but not sure if it'll read my Ext HDD (500GB)

Cheers,

The F700 will link up with a USB key up to 16GB i believe. You could try hooking up the 500GB book but i dont know if it will work. The F700 is double din, that is the standard size deck in our cars. single din is the narrow "wider than taller" size decks that you see in like old hondas and on the walls in the car electronics section at walmart. The install is pretty easy. Youll need the instalation kit, wiring harness, face plate, audi radio removal tools (sharp, be careful). You can get all of it at www.crutchfield.com

Thanks for the reply

Only 16GB? The only real reason I want to do something like this is because I want to have my Ext HDD connected. I know some of you might think it's crazy to have 500GB, but I have about 450GB of music on my computer (I'm a severe Musiholic/Audiophile).

I'm on the road a lot so it would be nice to have access to that library of music.

Anyone know if you can buy that installation kit locally somewhere in Toronto or surrounding areas?

Cheers,
