Default CVT.... finally happened.....

Hey Guys...

So,after 93,500 miles on my '02 A4 1.8T CVT, it died. I was driving along, then the engine reved very high, engine died, lost power stearing, and battery light was on. After shutting off the car, and turning it back on, the power stearing had returned and the battery light was off. However, putting the car in drive, it did not go anywhere. Forward or reverse. Needless to say, I believe my CVT died. Anyone know any good rebuild kits? I know there is a 7 plate replacement. Anyone know where to find that?

Thanks.

Jon

The dealer, and thats if they'll sell one to you. They may only let you buy a new trans given how many problems they have.

Well...What do you think it sounds like.,.

I forgot to mention, a day or two before this happened, my power locks were acting all strange. They wouldn't lock with the button, or only would half the time. If it was the TCM, wouldnt my drive inidicator lights be flashing?

I think you need a vag com to check the fault codes. No sense in me guessing.

The locks have absolutley nothing to do with the trans, fault codes from the central convenience module is necessary. Could be as simple as failing batteries in the fobs.
