hey guys. just bought a 2005 1.8t quattro. she'sbeautiful!!!

i was checking the tire pressure on all 4's just to be sure they were all even. i noticed that the psi on them are at "25". seems low or is this howthis particular brand prefers them to be?

my tires are: goodyear eagle rs-a 235/45r17

i read somewhere that audi recommends psi's to be "35".

so can someone tell mewhatare the correct psi's?!

also, whatbrand tiredo the majority of you guys put on your a4's?i wasnt reading too many good reviews on those eagle rs-a's

It really depends on the tire. A lot of tires will post the recommended PSI right ont he tire. I do believe for that size tire it is about 35 like you said.

And I dont really like EAGLE tires. I prefer Falken or Perelli

If you really want, cruise down to EVENS TIRE or any other tire shop and they can give you a 100% correct answer

 

Look inside your drivers door, you should see recommended tire pressure. On my 03 Quattro it is 30 for just the driver, if you load the car it varies from 39 to 41 depending on tire rating. 30 is soft and will give you a better ride with acceptable edge wear at some loss of gas mileage, something like 35 or 36 will give you a hard ride with better gas mileage, tire wear should be pretty even. If you load the car a lot you would want to go higher. Check pressure when the tire is hot, i.e. after a drive.

 

I set mine to 36 to 37 for better fuel economy.

Well lets justavoid the "always" word and state it like this: The tire pressure recommendations in the door of a car are cold recommendations, but cold is relative. Pressure in tires willchange when the air inthetirechanges or the altitude changes. Tire pressure can change quite a bit due to temperature. I generally set mine when cold because I have a compressor at home But over the years I have found I need to change pressure due to radical temperature changes or load problems, it's only when the tire is hot that you know what the real driving pressure is. I keep a pressure gauge in the car too.

 

I have never seen a tire with a recommended PSI on the sidewall. It usually states the maximum PSI the tire can hold, which you don't want to be doing. Unless you are running aftermarket tires look inside your driver's side (I believe) door jam and it will tell you.
