Compression test for Audi A4 1.8T - Video
Compression test for a bad head gasket: 30 - 60 minutes.
This Audi A4 ran out of coolant and over heated. After the driver pulled over it would NOT start again. The likely cause is that the head on the motor warped and caused a blown head gasket situation. So, the quickest way to check it is to pull the spark plugs and check the chambers for coolant or do a compression test.
The results were as expected, low compression on all cylinders and coolant in the compression chambers. The numbers were 60 - 30 - 0 - 30. Not sure where the numbers should have been but I'm sure somewhere around 170 psi. Hopefully the motor block is not cracked as well.
