Default CEL and Seafoam, have a question

I'm going to seafoam my 05 Audi A4 1.8T and have a question about getting a CEL after running seafoam through the engine. If I do get the CEL, can I take it up to Autozone/Advance and have them clear the codes or is that something that I need to go to the dealer for? Can they be cleared with a regular Scan tool from a parts store?

Does anybody have a picture of which hose to use to put the seafoam in?

I did not get a cel after seafoaming. The reader from autozone will clear codes though. There is a vacuum line on the side of the intake manifold close to the front. You can see it easily from the front of the car. Pull that vacuum line off and get a section of hose from autozone and put it in the can of seafoam so it will suck it in.

Is that the vacuum line you are talking about? You can see the section of tubing that I stuck on there. Sorry for the bad picture, it was taken with a cell phone and a flashlight.

yeah, thats the one i used. i used about a can doing that, make sure you let the car die or turn it off while the tube is in the can so some seafoam can stay in the manifold for a few mins and clean it out. i also put a can in my gas tank

oh, and its going to smoke like you wouldnt believe.

Is it better to suck it through a vacuum line, pour it in the crankcase (run about 30 miles and change oil/filter), or add it to the gas tank? A4 has 74k miles and other than running regular fuel injector cleaner through it, I never used Seafoam in any vehicle I owned.

Those 3 methods clean three different systems. Oil cleans lube, vacuum cleans intake manifold, and gas cleans the fuel system. I would recommend doing all three. I have done all but the oil, but I plan to do that one soon when I do my oil next.

It actually didn't smoke too bad. There was some smoke, but not near as much as some other cars that I have done. One thing we noticed is that you can hear the turbo more now. How more of a whistle, not near what a Cummins can do, but still cool. Do these turbos have a silencer ring?

I have a question, I woke up this morning to go to work & started my 2003 audi a4 1.8t 5 speed and went to get gas and everything was fine. Once i got gas and left the gas station, I was in first gear i put my foot on the pedal and the car started to hesitate like it was choking. I thought at first i had an exhaust leak but I really do not think that is the problem. Also the check engine light came on but when the car is not moving the check engine doesnt no flash but while I drive it starts flashing??? Know how to fix this issue ?

The manual (and the dealer) say do NOT drive the car if the CEL is flashing. You need to pull the codes. The only time mine did this is when I had a coil pack fail and I was dumping gas into the cats (this is not good for cats and I had to replace mine). Pull and post the codes - stop driving it.
