CEL Codes P0303 and P0171
Model: A4 Quattro 1.8T
Year: 2003
Mileage: 136XXX
The car has been bucking and kicking, at high way speeds after about 30-40 minutes, for about a month and a half. Thought to be transmission but ECU finally spit a P0300 and P0303 codes. I replaced the coil and the car ran great. The new coil has around 500 miles on it and the car did not sputter or buck at all. Last night, during my drive home, a couple of things happened. I do not think they are related I think it is just coincident. As I was coming off cruise control to slow down for the toll booths, the TCS light came on. It later went off as I was pulling into a gas station about 20 miles later. After I filled up, the car was on the highway for about 3 minutes when the CEL came on. I drove until the next exit and pulled off. I happen to have an OBD-II scanner with me and the ECU spit out codes P0303 and P0171. I cleared both of these codes and just kept driving (the hopes was that it would come on). It has been around 175 miles since I did that and it has not come on, however, I am experiencing a subtle sputter / hesitation during acceleration on the highway. It is faint and would not qualify it as a buck but more of a slight sputter.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Something else to make note of (you can determine significance) the engine temp gauge is fluctuating from normal to line between cold and normal, back to normal. I attribute this to a faulty coolant sensor and I have one that I need to put in still.
Thanks!
