Hi,

I have a 2004 cabriolet (v6 quattro), and I have a problem with the lever that raises and lowers the convertible top storage box in the trunk. The problem is that it only raises the box about half way, so it's really hard to use the space in the back of the trunk when the top is up.


Two years ago, the lever didn't work at all, and the dealer replaced the storage box, for $900. It was OK for 23 months, but now the lever moves freely for 1/2 of its path, then it starts to lift the box, but as a result it only goes 1/2 way up.

Does anyone know if it's possible to tighten the cable where it attaches to the lever? Do you need to remove the whole box, or can it be done with the box in?

Thanks for any advice, I'm also still waiting for the Customer Service rep from Sonnen Audi in San Rafael to call me back, but I fear they might not be willing to help me out after 23 months, and so he doesn't want to call back and give me the bad news (my guess is they can only replace the storage box, not fix it).
