Crap, i was hoping that the Einszett Klima-Cleaner would work...that was going to be my next step. I tried lysol yesterday- maybe I need to try it a couple more times?

I wonder if this is covered under warranty- I'd like to get a hold of that TSB.

Yes this is covered by the warranty. And Klima-Cleaner is for automobiles. The bottle they sent me (from Autogeek) looks like the inside of an Audi on the front label (wonder why?). Both tricks may work for some, but it didn't work for me. The problem is on the evaporator coil. If the stuff cant reach the evap, your not going to solve the problem, just mask it for a while.

hmmm...my dealer says its not covered by warranty. And I checked the TSBs on edmunds- there doesn't seem to be one for this problem...

I guess I'll be trying the Klima-Cleaner

Well, I just got off the phone with my dealer (Champion Audi, Coral springs, Fl) to reconfirm that this was covered under warranty. They tell me it is. I would not bring it in for this if it wasn't. I'm not sure why your dealer is telling you its not. If you search the forum you should find the link to that TSB. They show a video of the procedure to clean the system out. They use some kind of "fogger" with a disinfectant in it.

UPDATE: The smell went away???
I noticed on Sunday that the smell has gone away. I called the dealer today to cancel my appointment. I guess the Klima-Cleaner actually worked! My only guess is that it takes a few days to kick in. I'll be pissed if it comes back though.

funny thing.....I did the lysol thing couple of days ago and I can't smell it anymore either! I have also been drying out the evaporator by putting it on ECON for a few minutes. I ordered the Klima cleaner, so I'll probably go ahead and use that too.

45K service this week, I'll mentioned the TSB and see if they'll do a treatment for free. Will post update.

Ok, so the dealer says the TSB applies only to New car warranties AND within the first 12 months.
Anyway, I tried the Klima thing yesterday and it seems to have worked. I didn't use the whole can as they suggested, just about half.
