Anyone know how difficult it is to replace the compressor and core in a 2003 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro? i took my car in to get my a/c recharged and the mechanic said that the bolts in my compressor were actually pushing themselves out and they bent which caused the leak. He said he'd have to replace the compressor and associated parts. The work order came to $1272 with labor. I've done brakes, oil, fuel filter, and ignition coils in my car and was wondering if i should attempt to replace the compressor.

When redoing the ac compressor most of the work order is parts, it only takes an hour to replace it, if you're not a certified ac technician i suggest you get it done by a specialist.

Just to give you an advice, you can find cheaper compressors online, my dealership actually found me a den so compressor for 650 dollars canadian so I'm sure you're able to find cheaper oem compressors online.
