Bi-Xenons?
So i recently got an 05' ultrasport with Bi-Xenons or at least thats what the seller told me and so does the vehicles new window sticker list it under options.. last time i checked that meant both low and high beams were xenon bulbs?? im confused because only my low beam bulbs are xenons the high beams are regular halogens

you have a little mis understanding of the term bixenon but thats ok, your high beams are suppose to be halogen, but your low beams that are xenon also act as a high beam, what happens is when you activate your highbeams, the cut off sheild inside the low beam projector moves down to let all the light out and it goes everywhere.. if you pull up in front of a wall at night and acitvate your highbeams, youll see what happens.. its like this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19C1u...eature=related
so you pretty much have 2 highbeams. the halogen and xenon. hope this helps.
heres another video of what happens http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flrUD...eature=related

if it says bixenons then it should have them, your headlights would have the 3 in projector instead of the ones i have which are single low beam xenon that does not have bixenon.
this thread is a perfect example of the difference in the single low beam xenon and bixenon headlights.. if you have bixenon you have the headlight on the right which has the larger projectors. you can easily see the difference .

I got differing stories there lol.. i do have the headlight assembly pictured right with the larger low beam projector and i have heard about the fact that the light will actually maneuver outward but i thought that was with vehicles that don't have a separate low and high beam projector i guess you could call it if you know what i mean.. my b im sure there has been a thread regarding this before but i had little luck finding anything lol

comparison of different HELLA projector styles
I did a somewhat complicated upgrade of my 2001 a6 2.7 to 'incompatible' bixenon projectors from a 2002 a6 4.2 v8.
Check out my thread here (audi a6 halogen to bi xenon upgrade - pics , or https://www.audiforums.com/forum/audi-a6-9/%5Bcomplete%5D-audi-a6-halogen-bi-xenon-upgrade-pics-96448/ )
It may help you answer questions on what will and what wont fit. A few of my pics document the relevant dimensions of the part.

I thought I had high and low beam Xenons (bi-Xenons) on my A6. The original sticker said "Xenon headlights". The low beam is the middle light with a projector covering over it. The inside light is a halogen bulb with a black tip. Low beam is only the middle projector; high beam is the middle projector AND the inside halogen. I have not been able to determine if the intensity increases on the middle projector when I go to high beam, but definitely all four lights go on.
True bi-Xenons are a single headlight that has a metal cutout or reflector. It sits in front of the bulb on low beam to shape and reduce the light. It swings out of the way on high beam to let all the light out.
