Default Bang sound and smoke after starting! Culprit broken spark plug.

Hi folks.
(Audi A4 B6 2003)
I left home for 20 km distance to do some shopping. After I was done and went to start the car out of nowhere I heard a bang sound followed by a smoke.
I was worried and called a mechanic friend to tow me. On his arrival I told him one of the spark plugs broke I guess. Not knowing what the problem exactly was.
In the garage another mechanic heard how the car sounded. Without opening the hood he said it must be the spark plugs.
Surely our guess was right. We got it changed even without going through trouble of diagnosis.
I left for home. The car runs fine at the moment.
My question is how long do spark plugs last? Coming September they gonna be two years. I drove approximately 30k km since they were last changed. Shall I bother to change the other three? Thanks in advance. Cheers.

I got all four spark plugs changed. Next time around I'll let them changed in 20k km. Thank you for nothing. Cheers

I generally change spark plugs around 100k miles = 160k km or 5 years, whichever comes first. Applies to all three Audis and my two Crossfires that have SLK320 engines.

That is a lot in kilometres. They last long in your cars. Usually I change them in a year. Last time I left them out. Three months later they left me stranded in a shopping mall. I guess I'll stick to my routine of a year to which I do 30k km. Thank you for the feed back. Cheers
