Default B6 Questions/Advice - Help!

Hey Everyone,

After being torn between the B6 and B7, I have made up my mind to buy an used B6 with around 60-70k miles on it. I am looking to spend around $9-10.5k on the car which seems adequate according to the Kelley Blue Book value for the B6 Quattro's. Now I am nervous about the B6's as they seem to have a lot of issues in comparison with the B7's. I need advice on if I should get a 1.8T or 3.0 V6 and what model year should I be looking at, please keep in mind that reliability is a major priority for me as I will be using this car as a commuter. I understand that buying a used car out of warranty does mean that some repairs may occur and I trying to put some money aside for repair work. I know the 1.8T is mainly for mods although I don't plan on doing any mods but the V6 option comes at the cost of heavy gas prices. I guess I am asking if I find a cheaper 1.8T is it worth buying it in terms of reliability & what are the common repairs with the B6's I should anticipate. Lastly I am aware that the Ultrasports are rare to find but is it possible to get the Ultrasport package on the exterior/interior?

I am anxiously trying to purchase a B6 in the next week or two. Please help me out. Thanks

I would suggest the 1.8T engine platform for your needs. Also 2002 was the first year of the B6, and they didnt have terrible issues with them (That I recall) but maybe find a 2003 - 2005 model year.

Best of luck in your search, and welcome to the forum!

2005 1.8T would be the best option, if its in your budget, do not opt for old year model. Even if it won't be having issues, there is every chance for the issues to pop out suddenly.
