That pic also has a custom hood. I'd check into what it looks like with the factory style hood that doesn't cover half the headlights.
IMHO it makes the car look like it is trying to be something its not...a frankenstein b8. To each his own however. On the plus side for $400 I would assume them to be of good quality unlike a $150.00 knock-off.

Then it's money! I do like the way it looks with the custom hood. Not so sure I would like them(enough to drop $400 anyways) w/out it.

I'd go with the lights and spray the lowers yourself if it's possible. The grey bugged the **** out of me too so I sprayed it myself. The hardest part was getting the pearl metallic to match. 4times I sprayed and removed. I had the paint shop re-mix the formula 5 times until it was an exact match. PITA! However black would be relatively(stress the relatively) simple with even a low-budget spray set-up. Get a good high quality paint. I used PPG GLOBAL base and a PPG Global clear coat(a catalyzed clear for durability) scuff>spray basecoat>spray clearcoat>buff or wetsand(depending on how it lays down for you) and voila. No real need to be too **** on the lowers even if its a little orange peeled it would hardly be noticeable. If your car is black I think that hood and those lights would be g-damn dead sexy.
P.S. Some may disagree with my method of only scuffing before the paint but no need to take it down to bare plastic and prime if its not necessary. A high quality paint will bond well to the factory grey once scuffed and the catalyzed clear has yet to so much as chip, bubble flake or peel after 2 years. Wish the rest of the paint was as durable as what I did is.
You could literally do it with little $5-$10 pre-val sprayers if you don't have or have access to an air-compressor and spray guns. Your local auto paint supplier could help you out. I'd say you could do it all for around $150-$200 and about a saturdays worth of your time.
