Default Anyone have a How to Change Oil guide??

Yeah, clown me if you like..... but this will be the first time I change my own oil on this thing after owning it over 6 years lol.... When Mr.Tire is quoting you $85 that's a sure sign it's time to break out your tools again. I never bother on the Audi because I was getting such a great deal at the dealer and another spot for so long. That deal has expired and now I must go it alone. I'm not scared of a wrench at all, I change my own oil on our other vehicles, just never done it on the A4.

Here is a write-up from a4mods.com. It's an easy task, and well worth doing it yourself to save some money.

I recently done my 1st oil change on my A4 1.8T after having a miserable time with taking it else where..

For the filter, I didn't remove the resevoir and went underneath the car to get it off.. Also it says drain while cold? Oil doesn't flow as well cold, so wear a gardening glove and do it with the car warmed up.

Other than that its easy.. Just a little fiddlier on the filter than other cars I've worked on.

U can actually squeeze the filter out where the opening is between the manifold and the coolant resivior. Its gotta go through just right though but thats how i always get it out.

I always move the reservoir out of the way. It gives you more space to take the filter out (even though it does fit through the space) and allows for more leverage to get the filter loose. Plus it only takes about 30 seconds to move (its only one screw)

Yeah it costs me about 65 to get my oil changed but it's worth it and saves me the hassle. plus it's only what, like twice a year? I do it every 6k-8k.

I think my dipstick is messed up? I recently changed my oil and put about 6.3 quarts in instead of 6.8 and after warming the oil, giving it a few minutes to return to the pan, the level on the dipstick is in the "do not add" region. What is going on here?!
