anybody know transmissions pretty good?
i have a 6 speed 1.8t with 106k on it, basically my problem is this. when it's out of gear or going in first gear, my car sounds like a tdi. when i push the clutch in and from second gear on, including reverse, my car is running sound. she runs like a dream in all gears though, even first when making that sound, i am still running strong. any ideas?

i'm working on finding on all my stuff now. dealer said like 30 per liter for the fluid, i seen that royal purple 75w90 maxgear. i cant find that either. found 75w140 and still compliant. not sure if i should go with it or not though.i also still need to find the specialty tool.

From what i understand about your complaint is.... With the pedal released you have a loud noise. Trans shifts fine and the noise goes away when its in gear and your moving....?
Then you have a bad throwout bearing. The bearing ride on the release fork. The bearing comes in the clutch kit. You should also replace the slave cylinder because the boot deteriorates and nothing hold the pushrod from falling into the bell housing.

i went to the dealer and they wont even listen to my car without taking my ******* for a joy ride. i found clutch kits on ecs from anywhere around 300 and up. since the dealer wont tell me what i need as far as tools go to change my transmission fluid, i figure they wont help me anymore. any suggestions on diy?

Well the fluid is tricky. Because it is gravity filled using a special tool. Its a pain in the *** for even a dealer.
BG makes a transmission flush machine that we use which makes it all the more easier.
So if you think its more clutch related. Do the clutch first. If you think its fluid related... I would have the dealer do. I think it would be worth it, because there is no dipstick. I would leave the headache for them. I think it runs around 300.00 for fluid and flush.

i've noticed from driving it less and less that the gears are getting harder to slide into into. so i'm thinking it may start to be clutch related. 1st gear can be a real pain. i know ecs sells the clutch kit for around 300, i also found a shop that does good work and they quoted me 525 or so for the labor. since they are pulling the clutch, new fluid is an automatic must is also going to have to happen i guess.
