Default Alternator Question

Hey, I have an '03 1.8T with alternator issues. I have the Valeo alternator and the good folks at AutoZone told me that my voltage regulator is the problem. Would it be worth my while to replace just the voltage regulator, or should I just replace the whole alternator?

Not sure about an Audi alternator, but typically the voltage regulator is part of the alternator these days.

it is on all alternators...

they can be rebuilt if you can find the parts for it.

But the fact that autozone told you its the voltage regulator, makes me want to replace the whole thing just to be sure.

Normally is easier to just change the whole thing, since you're already down there, but depends how much you're willing to spend. I couldn't find you any DIYs, sorry.
