Exclamation A4 headache

So last tuesday I took a 15 minute drive out of town and got a cylinder two misfire. I replace the coil the next day started the car and it was running worse so then i replaced the plugs, still ran worse. After changing all the coils around I hooked my scan tool up and have misfire cylinder #1,#2,#3. wtf. I then cleanded the mass airflow sensor let the injectors soak in sea foam and put seafoam in the gas tank. Still nothing working. checked all vacumm lines and all OK. last thing I tried was unhooking the battery for 20 mins to reset ecu and still runs like dogs *** misfiring and shaky idle. Any help would be very appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its possible you have more than one bad coil. You may want to just change them all. When my first one went out, I only replaced the one. Then two weeks later 2 more went. Changed all of them and haven't had a problem since.

I had a similar problem and there are many threds on this. There are a couple of theroys...here is what happend to mine. The car overheated and the head gaskit leaked coolent into the cylinders. Check your resivor to see if your loosing fluid (this was an indication). The sensor that regulates temperature (the one you see on your dash that the car is running at normal temperature) did not function correctly. The car never told me it was overheating but it did. The fans for some reason was not kicking on as they were suppose to. Anyways engine was rebuilt. $3k. Period. Same symptoms you had. rough shakey idle espically at start up. What is happening is if there is coolent in there then it is being burned off while you are running it. I was lucky and the heads did not crack just a seal. But I cought it very quickly too and did not run the car.

Also...just reading some of the other replys... There is a coil recall on the 3.0L check into it. That could be it. Another theroy I have heard from several people is that coolent leaks through cylinder walls. Unexplainable. but supposedly it happens. Not what happend to me though.
