hi i`m new to the audi forum as i`ve brought my self a nice a4 only problem is i brought it with a siezed waterpump its spun the the cam belt and bent the valves i`ve had a quote of £650 to rebuild the avj head. i only paid a little bit more for the whole car is there any other (code) head i can fit as i dont know much about audi engine`s it`s a 2001 any help would be greatfull

 

You bought a car with a locked up motor without knowing how to rebuild it...?

hi i can rebuild the engine my self the only thing i`m not sure with are the cylinder heads interchangeable ie golf passat and codes not every 1 has got the tools to rebuild a cylinder head in there shed so i want to go for a cheaper option

 

we dont have avj engine code in america. can you elaborate on the donor car it came off of? technically any 1.8t head is interchangable with any 1.8t block, but some of the accessories should be matched up like the cam chain tensioner. if the avj has vvt and sai, it should work no problem

 

thx for the reply i think the american virsion of the avj is the amb my car is 1.8t se on a 2001 i`ve been looking at putting an amk cylinder head on they look the same can i use the bare amk head and put everything off my avj (AMB u.s version) cheers

 

if avj is the amb equivilant it will work just fine. you can use any head you want if you swap all the internals as long as the head casting has secondary air injection.

 

thx for the info it`s been wrecking my head lol by any chance do you know any code head`s with sai so i know which 1`s to look out for rather then keep sending every1 messages on ebay i think the amk i`m looking at asn`t got sai is it to much assle to block it off
