Default 3.0 Other sources of coolant leaks?

05 3.0 USP 6-spd MT 83k

Had the timing belt/waterpump everything done feb 2012 - perfect with no leaks

Last nov I noticed a very small coolant leak from back of the engine, but from thanksgiving - late march I only drive my Jeep anyway so it was garaged and untouched -NO LEAKING when sitting.

Now the leak has turned into a flood, after 2-3 miles of average driving the entire tank is empty.

Tank is NOT leaking, radiator is NOT leaking, coolant is coming down from behind the engine but crush nipple is fine and what I can see of the crossover pipe also looks fine. It almost appears to be leaking from underneath the battery much further behind the engine. Some crusted coolant but even is its got a good drip going I don't see any moisture.

It is hitting the exhaust somewhere and making a good smell...

Anyone had an issue like this before or thoughts? Don't want to take it to Audi but don't have a ton of time to be chasing demons. Thanks

There is a coolant flange that is found right below your passenger side valve cover on the back of the engine (At least on the 2.7T) that is a usual spot that leaks. In that very same location you will also find your upper coolant temp sensor that is also a common area where our cars leak from. I would start there as you said it's coming from the back of the engine.

It looks like there is some crusted coolant on the bottom of the coolant crossover pipe looking up but I don't see anything leaking from there while the engine is running and coolant keeps running out. Crush washer and nipple are dry as a bone with no crusted coolant around

Will double check but seems bone dry, so does the one coming down from the overflow tank into the crossover pipe. Seems the 05's were modified a bit. Sounds almost exactly like this thread

But no reply was ever given and car sold.
