Default 2004 Cabrio Dipped Headlight Conundrum

Hi,

I have a 2004 B6 A4 Cabriolet 3.0. I've always thought dipped headlights were a bit dim so eventually got round to thinking it should be easy enough to put some decent bulbs in. Went to one of the main online suppliers, put in the reg etc and ordered some Ring H7.

Now, once I got the one of the headlight units off I immediately noticed that the dipped headlight unit looks like some fancy sealed unit within the main unit, the like of which I've never seen before, with no obvious means to access it or replace it. No amount of searching on the net has come up with anything other than this should be a straightforward bulb replacement.

Anyone any ideas, is this some sort of upgrade aoption when new?

BTW, I have some cheap unused Ring Xenon Ultima H7's going.... full beam are H9's!

Cheers

not sure if you are looking at the same headlights ive looked at. Once the housing is out swapping the bulb whether it be hid or halogen is very simple. you just need to remove the cap on the back of the housing that is held via the silver retainer clip. from there simply unplug the wire pull the retainer clip off the bulb and swap. Shouldnt take more then a few minutes. Also if you are running stock hids the bulb is ds1 not h7. H7 would be halogen capsules.

Thanks for the reply.. I think you are talking about this type
. Unfortunately, mine look nothing like that. No clips, just a twist fit electrical connection onto what looks like a sealed unit... maybe best if I took a picture. Will try and post something tomorrow.
