2004 a4 Clutch Troubleshooting and help???????
I am having trouble with my 2004 A4 1.8T 6 speed tranny... pushed the clutch in on my 2004 a4 and it kinda snapped half way down to the floor. After this I restarted the car there was no resistance on the clutch petal. It went all the way to the floor with a very slight pulsing feeling on my foot. I pumped the clutch with no luck. To solve this, I checked the brake fluid which was ok..... and bled the brake fluid twice with out getting any pressure or resistance on the clutch. The I did not see any fluid leaking anyway. Ok on futher review this is what I have come up with:
I inspected around and found out that I do have pressure at the slave cylinder. Thats leads me to believe that something is broken with the shifting fork or throwout bearing because the car will drive around the block if you shift it in high RPM's or put it in gear then started it... There for the pressure plate is still grabbing against the clutch plate. I also am not loosing any fluid anywhere in the system. The VW dealership in town wants to charge me 3 grand to pull the transmission. They also don't seems to know what it could be and want to replace everything (like the dealers also do)...What do you guys think?
Help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks for you time.

I just went through this exact same thing i ended up changing the slave and the master...i ended up taking it to a local independent shop and he worked on it for awhile cause he didnt think it was anything with the clutch....long story short the clutch fork ended up being cracked at the end right by the throw out bearing and was slipping right over the bearing... new clutch and clutch fork and its good as new!

oh and i ended up paying 583.00 for the clutch install which i supplied and he supplied the fork which i think cost about 100 bucks. chances are though either your fork is fucked up or the pressure plate is stuck or the fingers broke off

i have the exact same problem. they have replaced the master cylinder and slave cylinder. i can start the car in gear and it will move. they have even beld the system multiple times thinking there was an air bubble. looks like i get to tell them on monday that its time to pull the transmission.

700 bucks sounds alot better than 3000.I am currently shopping around local reputable shops for a good price. Another thing, A independent Audi mechanic told me that because it was a 6 speed that you had to have special tools to put the tyranny back together and that the dealership are the only ones who usually have them.
