RE: 2004 A4 3.0 Blown Cylinder
what scares me is that it will some yum yum beating the crap out of it for 100 miles. as i'm sure you can understand i can't begin to describe my frustration. i loved the car but now i just want to get rid of it. it's hard to justfify selling it after just sinking 6k+ into it. i wanted rims and a new system. 6k would have done one hell of a set of rims and tires that's for sure

So they finally put the car back together, took if for a test drive, and it's leaking oil from the head???????? I just freaked on Audi and the dealership. They are going to pull it apart and try it again. Another week or two cause they don't have the parts. Again, AOA said, sorry. We don't know what to tell you. I now realize why people go postal.

I can feel your pain. I could tell another story but that won't help you.
What I DO think is that your dealer isn't very good with its inventory and parts. Maybe it's because you're in Maine, and I'm not digging you on that. My dealer on Long Island is up against 5 or 6 0ther dealerships within a reasonably short driving distance so they seem to have more reason to be sharp.
And I don't agree with the post about the 3.0 being a problem because it was only around a few years. wasn't the 1.8 a 1.6 that became a 2.0? The 3.0 was the 2.8 and became the 3.2. sure things were changed as the engines grew but to completely discount ands engine because it technically only lasted for 3 or 4 years isn't fair. That would mean the B7 was a dog as well.
Good luck with your grief. It sux big time. Want to see my Tee shirt?

Cracked cylinder head
I purchased my first Car from a dealer and not just any car a 2005 Audi A4 quatro 1.8t, me and my wife were happy for few days until we got a problem......
check engine light!!! plugged my OBD2 scanner and had multiple misfires, drove it to the dealer we bought it from and they weren't helpful at all since they are a Infinity dealer they told us that would need to be sent to the Audi dealer to better assist with the problem.... so they delivered the car there and found out that the cylinder head is cracked with coolant inside the cylinders.
Thats a $4200 bill
we only had the car for 45 days and now we got this issue, we also purchased a Warranty for 13 months with a third party company and they went inspected the car and declined the repair, because the cylinder head is not covered by them!!! The dealer never provided us with the warranty coverage we only have a warranty level and account info on it.
Im thinking to get this case to court since the dealer we purchased the car from declined us any type of help
Now im stuck with that bill and seeking options in this case...

I know my sympathy won't mean much, but it sounds more like a dealer issue than "all Audis suck". Yes, they are not the most reliable cars and have more problems that the premium Jap brands, but what you describe is not typical. Something had to happen in the four years and 10k miles you drove the car. Will we ever find out that root cause -- probably not.
I know the 3.0 is more difficult to work on than other engines, but I bought a 2003 A4 3.0 MT6 for my daughter three years ago with 69k miles. It now has 92k and the only issues were replacement of the cats under warranty (I am still suspicious that it was only a bad O2 sensor) and a clutch pedal sensor that keeps throwing a code. Other than that it has been a solid vehicle that my daughter regularly drives from MI to NY for college.
My A6 just turned 196k and has held up real well. I replaced the alternator, clutch and flywheel, and now have to replace the cats, but consider that necessary maintenance after this many miles. And I intend to keep it as long as I can.
