Default 05' AMB 1.8t cylinder head needs replacing, any swap options like VW Passat?

05' AMB 1.8t avant cylinder head needs replacing, any swap options like VW Passat? I've seen many AEB on ebay for sale in the $500's but no AMB's what are my options if any? The casting #06A103373P ...I've looked all over the net why are the Audi heads that much more expensive and the casting #058103373D for the AEB looks exactly the same...Also i've seen a 05 'Passat engine and it is the same look, layout and fit...Please Help..

The AEB is a large intake port head while all the others are a small intake port head.

They all fit on the 1.8t blocks. Problem is that the intake ports are going to be bigger then the ports on your intake manifold but you can get a intake manifold gasket from 034 that will work for that setup. If you are running a K03 the turbo will spool up a little bit later because velocity will be slower in the larger ports.

Good info Mike, do i want the Large Port Intake Manifold Spacer or the "Transition" Port? Not sure which turbo i'll check. And Shane i ran this car really hard when i should have gotten repairs when things where minor....that was last year...i've learned the lesson!

If you plan on using your stock small port intake manifold you want to get the transition gasket that 034 sells.

Yes you should be able to use a AEB intake manifold too. But just a bit of a warning, the B5 intake manifolds point the throttle body downward vs the B6 intake manifolds that point the TB more parallel to the ground. So your throttle body hose might not fit.

Here so you can see what I mean.

B6 IM/TB

B5 IM/TB

Ok, thanks for that info. The throttle body still bolts up though? Are there noticible gains from this? How much more does the aeb stuff flow?
