Personally I would not recommend on buying headlights that already come with HIDs.

1. HID Kit most likely cheap hence FREE
2. Usually they give you 8 or 10k which is too blue for my liking.
3. Companies have to make money back for FREE hid kit so you get charged more.

This is what I had on mine and I love them. Good quality and uses D2S housing incase you ever decide to use OEM ballast or bulbs.

Factory D2S XENON MODEL 2000-02 AUDI S4 B5 CHROME PROJECTOR HEADLIGHT | eBay

If you dont care much for D2s then here is another option

Two piece (if you dont want to trim fender)

One piece ( if you want to looks like newer Audis with the devil eyes)
96 97 98 99 AUDI A4 S4 B5 DAYTIME R8 DRL LED 1PC PROJECTOR HEADLIGHTS LAMP CLEAR | eBay
Or one of my new favorites with LED turn signal and LED strip

Nothing is different between the two. One uses H7 and other D2s (more expensive bulb)

Once you get that set and wire everything up all you will need is a HID kit in your preferred color and thats all

If i may chime in with a similar question/issue. I recently bought a pair of 6k bulbs for my 01'. upon installation i realized that they were in fact not the right bulb, and that i had H7 halogen bulbs. I guess i assumed i had HID's because my lows are pretty damn bright for halogen... theres even a very distinct horizontal cut-off like you see with most HID headlights, is that normal for halogens? very confusing and i feel like a total tard for assuming.

ANYWAY my question is reguarding KRAUTO PARTS HID kits that ImTheDevil mentioned previously in the thread. Im currently looking at a 35w 6k HID kit and when i added it to my cart, the price is only $50. is that right? seems pretty cheap for a full HID kit that comes with 6k bulbs.. Are they a pretty quality product? im all for it for $50 but i just want to make sure that im not ordering just a pair of bulbs again... ALSO, i noticed that their 55w kit is only $10 more. WHats the benefit of going 55w instead of 35w? if i put 55w in will i start wrecking things?

Also, will my stock 1-piece halogen headlight housings be okay with an HID kit? ive heard of people melting housings and such.

Thanks in advance guys. headlights are not something im very versed in..

The cutoff you are seeing is due to the projector lens, not because of the bulb. I've read that 55w bulbs just run hotter but no major issues. I think some said that it gives a bulb error on your cluster too but can easily be fixed. Either way will work.

My car, as well as most of us in the northeast (and virtually all the guys that come to our meets), are rolling Krautoparts catalogs. You won't find anyone I can think of who doesn't like the stuff. I've known Emil for several years and all of us up here can vouch for his integrity and extremely fast service. You have nothing to worry about.
