Can the OEM fog light projectors work properly with H7-sized xenon/HID bulbs? Is the beam pattern adequate?

 

The OEM fog lights are a reflector design and should not be used with HID bulbs. I have heard of some using the projector fog light assembly from B5.5 Passats, but have never seen it myself.

After I retrofit my headlight projectors for FX-R bi-xenon, I was left with the stock H7 projectors from the headlights. I modified them and mounted them in the original fog housings and run HID's in them.

to fit in place of these?


Oddly, B5.5 Passat fog light assemblies appear to be half the price of the ones for a B5 A4.

 

I haven't seen it done. I've only heard of others using the Passat units. If you do go through with it, make sure to take pics for the rest of us.
