Hi, I have a 1997 A4 non-quattro V6. The drivers side window has a problem.. It goes down fine but when I go to put it up it is very slow. As it rises it slows even further. And at times it gets to the top then goes down slightly and I need to assist to get it up.

Any ideas. I really dont know if its the motor or something else.

Possibly a dying motor? It makes sense that it goes down fine because of gravity, not sure why else it would go up slow aside from the motor.

 

Yeah the motor is probably dying. It's not that uncommon on a B5. Try swapping it with a motor on a different window - if the slowness moves to the new door, it's the motor.
