Default Window Regulator Clips

My clips broke, I purchased some off ebay. I figured out how they have to fit on but am struggling to actually fit them on. Does the window regulator assembly / frame have to be removed from the door to fit the clips on or can they be put on with the regulator frame and assembly remaining in the door?

Both of my rear windows failed, due to that plastic wheel getting brittle and breaking (both sides on the sane day - in the rain). It ruined the plastic pulleys and that caused the cables to warp/tangle/ruin.

I looked at fixing it myself, but after seeing that the assembly was riveted in, I just ended up putting a self tapper in each rail.

Now I just live with my rear windows being closed/unable to roll down.

In case you still have to finish this job, I'll tell you that the Ebay ones that I've used had to have some Xacto knife trim work to get the cable's bead to fit. You should be able to fit them while the frame is in place.

A mechanic was eventually able to fit them with the frame in place. Just had to remove the two metal brackets that connect the glass to the replacement plastic clips with a star headed ratchet. Without removing these, it would have been impossible. Took a bit over an hour with a mechanic mucking around mainly because neither he or I had ever done it before.
