window motors
#3
Most of the time, it's not the motor itself, but rather the "window regulator" assembly.... all the mechanical linkage that actually moves the window up and down via cables and guides it in tracks. The motor just has a splined output shaft that fits into a plastic cable sprocket in the regulator assembly. The plastic components of the regulator assembly are basically all crap and dry out and crack to pieces. That's what happened to my passenger side window a couple weeks ago. The motor was still in perfect operating condition. A new regulator assembly was about $40 from FCP (fcpgroton.com, fcpeuro.com). You do have to disassemble the door and drill out some pop rivets to replace it.
