Default Will these tires fit?

I just bought a '98 2.8 Sport and plan to put some cheap S8 reps on it. I plan to go with 17x7.5 with 225/45's, as that seems to be the tire size everyone recommends. I want to use the factory 16" rims for my winter tires. I happen to have a set of Blizzak 205/65R16's that are almost new. Question is, will they fit ok? Looking at the current tires on the car, it looks like there is hardly any room to put bigger tires on and still clear the suspension. Anybody know if these tires will fit?

225/45/17 is about the same as your stock tires and will work fine, 205/65/16 is over 1.5" larger in diameter so it may not work (or look) right.
S8 wheels were never 17s I thought? What are the reps you are talking about?

Bump. Anybody else have any good guesses? Since the Blizzak's are basically brand new I would like to use them if possible rather than spending the $ on another set.

Just in case anyone ever wonders the same thing, no they will not fit on a car with sport suspension. I had a shop try to put them on but they rubbed on the back.

the blizzaks will work fine. the 17s will be fine too. right now i'm running 225/40/18 on 18x8. that's almost as big as you can go on stock suspension and no spacers.

Not if they are 205/65R16's. I had the shop put them on and they are too tall and rubbed in the back.

Sorry I didn't get to you earlier, I could've warned you of that and saved you some time.

P.S. Former 91 SHO+ owner here, too!

Yea, the SHO has been great, but its getting up there in miles and its hard to beat the Audi's Quattro AWD, so I will probably be selling it soon.
