Wider 235/45 17 tire on A4?
I have a 99.5 A4 with sport package... riding on 17 x 7.5 S4 wheels. My suspension is H&R sport springs... so a little lower than stock sport height.
All plus one fitments for this car list tires size as 225/45 17. I would like a slightly wider tire... 235 ... on the car. The suspension is close when feeling around the other side of the tire, but I think it would fit alright. Only 10mm more... 5 to the inside.
Just wondering if anyone has put a slightly wider tire on their rides without a problem?

Yeah, I had that size on my car when I had 17s on it. No issues with clearance either, although like you say, they are a tight fit. Going further, to a 245, you're going to rub - that happened to Hiwords when he got his wheels. The 245-section tires were rubbing his control arms in a tight turn, and he'd rub fenders when the suspension compressed fully. You could get around that with a different offset to the wheels, but unless you happened to luck into it, you'd probably have to spec it as a custom build, which is $$$$.
But yeah, to answer your question, like Aledelic said, they'll fit without trouble.
Aledelic, you gonna try and make the spring Brewery meet in Ithaca this year?

Yeah the spacers should allow a 245 tire to fit nicely. As for the meet, we are still working on particulars but the thinking is for late April or early May so the weather is good and we can do photo shoots and such. The thinking is at a microbrewery in Ithaca, about an hour from Binghamton (up some fun roads, by the way). There will be a sticky thread posted soon once the details are arranged, so we can try to get an early head count.

Well, figure two hours to get here. You could meet our local crew here, and caravan up with us. We're going to try and set up with a nearby motel as well, since quite a few guys from a distance are talking about coming (CCA4 from DC, ObnoxiousDrunk from Morristown, NJ, and osin34 from CT, for example). Breaking up the trip into two days that way would make it more palatable for the drive too. It should be a fun time - those guys are all talking about coming from considerable distance, and more locally, we've got myself, Hiwords, Jiggleo, Tware4021, Emilgevor, TheDavey (haven't heard from him in awhile but I'll be in touch with him), and 7-8 other guys that aren't on here (a couple are on AZ). Add in those guys and whoever else from AZ and FastDubs, and we could have a good, fun turnout.
