I have a 6 speed2006 gti, and i have run the shat out of it. i race it every chance i get, i have the tickets, and the transmition/cluch replacement bills to prove it. but it just as heavy as a b5 a4 (if not heavyer). the only advantage i have is my lack of all wheel drive and 50 or30 more houres power.i have gone up against my friends b5 many times and he can only beat me in the rain.

safety doesnt mean jack if you are seen anywhere near racing and a cop goes after them but sees your car and decides to pull you just because it looks like it could be convictable... thats where the whole safety bullS%$# went out the window...

It almost seems like you have to have a bone stock car, go 10 mph under the speed limit not get pulled...

if you plan to even change the appearance of your car plan to get pulled over well thats for gay

the extar weight in our cars is mostly from the fact that the body panels are double walled. which means everything has support behind it. i like the extra weight personally, it makes the car feel more solid and handle better. ive ditched as much as possible in the car to still have a full interior and it still weighs a ton, but im not stripping it down any more.
