When to change timing belt?
I am freaking out. I could ve swore that i read somewhere to change my timing belt on my audi a4 1.8t at 120 000 miles. I am at 104. Someone here tells me I should have done it 25 k ago. What to do. I have a 2500 mile trip next week! Help

i too am worried about the belt. i bought a 2000 A4 with 121k miles and i dont think its ever been changed!!! to be safe, i drove the car straight home and its parked until i change it (which will hopefully be next weekend :-) ) i just couldnt risk it

Your timing belt should have def. been changed by 80k i did mine at 78k. Audi did change their timing belt service from 90k to 70-80k due to people having major break down issues and people actually trying to sue audi for falsifying when their timing belt should be changed due to major car damage. You can get the project done in about a day. But def before your long trip.

Ok here is the deal. for 96-99 the change is at 90k. for 2000-on change is 105k. Which is what i have now. So my uncle will do it for me this thursday. I dont want to risk it at all. By the way water pump must be changed along with other tensioners...
