Wheels/tires for '97 B5
I got my brother's '97 A4 (2.8 quattro) when he bought his new one, and am in the process of restoring it. 2 of the wheels are in horrible shape.
I have a set of wheels left over from a previous car which are absolutely gorgeous with brand new tires. The problem is, the Audi sits on stock wheels/tires with tires rated 205/55R. The wheels/tires I have to put on are 225/55R.
I won't BS you guys. I'm pretty new when it comes to modding cars, so I could use some expertise. Is it possible to use the bigger wheels/tires without extensive modification? I'm not concerned about the speedometer, I'm concerned about this wrecking the stock brakes or even being feasible size-wise for ~10% bigger wheels. As far as I know, the car is currently 100% stock except for the exhaust.
Thanks in advance.

225 will definitely affect the height and speedo if all four tires were changed to that.....
225 = tire width = 225mm
55 = tire sidewall height = 55% of width = .55*225mm = ~124mm ... .55*205mm = ~113mm
16 = wheel diameter = 16" = ~406mm
225/55/16 tires = ~26" ... 205/50/16 tires = ~25"
25/24 - 1 = .042 = ~4% difference
you do not want to use tire sizes with over a 3% difference with quattro. don't use 225/55/16 and 205/55/16

Well what are the odds it's going to kill me to run 'em for a couple thousand miles? I only need the car to survive this summer. After that I'm gone for a year active duty and when I get back I'll have enough cash to get the '04 S4 I'm looking at. Thanks for your help, guys!

I have an 02 a4 quattro with sport suspension, can i go from my 205/50/17 to 225/50/17 without any rubbing or problems. 205 to 225 would just be a width not a hight increase right? The tire diameter is .79 bigger. Is this too much and does anyign have any experiance with these? chocalotstarfish were the 225/65 not huge?
