Default Wheel bearing

Is there a b5 wheel bearing diy? Having trouble finding one. Also im aware the wheel bearing has to be pressed off of the hub. Is there another way to get it off?

theres a diy but not a good one, theres one with a hubshark somewhere. its easy i just did it, push the bearing out then push it off the hub, push bearing in and then push the hub in. a shop can do it in 5 minutes.

For the rear bearings, you'll need a shop press or possibly a hubshark.

What I did was pull the whole rear knuckle/hub assembly off the car and bring it to pep boys along with an OEM bearing. They did it under the table for $40. Did the same for the other side a couple weeks later.

Both bearings inevitably fail within 3k miles.

When taking off the rear knuckle, there is one nut/bolt that spins freely. Try to get that one out early -- it's a bitch if you leave it for last. Also, don't damage the ABS speed sensor.

When re-assembling, use a jack to push up the knuckle to ride height before torquing down the suspension hardware.

And here's the DIY I followed: http://www.audiworld.com/tech/wheel45.shtml

Again, there is a bolt that spins freely. I can't remember which one, but try to remove that bolt early instead of last or you are going to need sone very narrow vice-grips to hold the bolt.

Thanks for the few DIY's I will be attempting this next weekend.

What kind of shop should I look for to press the bearing? just any garage?

Any bigger shop you trust should have a press.

just need a 20 ton press very common thing, if the shop doesn't have a press, turn around and walk away they shouldn't touch your hub.
