wheel alignment

The control arms are linked to the wheelhub, therefore effecting hub position and camber, right?

Wow... Lets just keep it simple and correct. The tie rod ends are the only spot to adjust the front end alignment-as the crazy german engineers intended. You can take appart whatever you want, as long as you don't remove the tie rod ends, the alignment should be the same as before you took anything appart.
