Default whats the point of buying an a4?

ok I'll just preface by saying that I own an 01 a4 1.8t with ~70000 miles. I bought it for 10,000 used from a local dealer. I never considered getting an s4 because i thought they were way too expensive. After looking on cars.com I saw that there are tons of 00-02 great condition s4s with under 90000 miles for under $16,000. Why did all of you buy the cars you did instead of saving a couple thousand more and getting an s4?

because at the time the S4 was about twice as much, and this is what i could afford at the time. plus insurance is ALOT higher on the s4.

so financially it just made sense. while the s4 would be alot of fun, i still do not regret my purchase, as this is the car that got me into Audis and created alot of awesome friends for me

A4's get better gas milage with a 1.8t and have the potential to be a fast and comfortable car. Not to mention the S4 has ugly woodgrain trim [:'(]

I bought my a4 for 5400 cash so i don't have a car payment which is nice.
I think A4's are just as luxurious as s4's, not as fast of course, but they get way better gas mileage and insurance is a lot cheaper.

Just affordability in general i guess. I'm 23 and in college, i can afford the A4 no problem but the S4 is still way above my means.

because I had a budget, and the A4 was in it, the S4 wasn't even close.

I love my 12v

Mine was partially about availability. There were quite a few A4's for sale in my area and not so many S4's. I just liked having options when it came to buying the A4 rather than buying whatever was available in the S4.

I got the A4 because it was going to be daily and how I have heard some problems with the S4 engine.

However, I did want to get the B5 instead of the others.

Not all S4's have woodgrain trim. And would you honestly let something that could so easily be changed deter you from buying one?

I bought an A4 because it was $5,500, and the Nogaro Blue S4 I found in town here at the time was $12,000. With my down payment, I could afford the A4 - but not even remotely the S4. Which is a damn shame, because Nogaro Blue is awesome.

I got mine because it was lower mileage than any of the S4's I could find under $18000. Plus, when something goes wrong on the S4, its usually double to replace it since there is two of everything. And I don't think Allstate would like a 17yo with an S4...
