Okay, that helps. I keep finding pretty clean cars but a lot of them are auto (autotragic?) If I buy a tiptronic, I'm really going to regret it, aren't I? (Last car was a mazda miata, manual, and I loved that manual made it so much fun.

Hmmm.

I love having a manual. Also a good way to keep dip ***** and idiots away from the driver's seat

Haha nice. In your guy's opinion, whats the better motor? The 1.8t or the 2.8. I've heard of the 2.8's having oil leakage problems and I've heard of the 1.8t's having issues with the turbo. The extra power of the 2.8 kinda seems like the way to go right now, but when I see under the hood pics of the 2.8, it looks so crowded in there. Not sure which to go for.
On a side note, I'm sure the 4 cylinder gets better fuel economy, but what have you guys gotten with both motors anyway?

For high mileage cars I'd stick with the 2.8L if you're not planning on doing extensive work like pulling the motor and rebuilding it. If you want a real street machine, and have the money, the 1.8T is much more mod friendly. Neither platform is perfect and both require maintenance, but the 2.8L tends to be more reliable and has more power out of the box.

I get somewhere around 25 - 27 MPG average with my 30V Tiptronic, but I drive hard.
