Default What is this sound?!? (video/audio content)

Okay - so the sound i have coming from the front passenger-side of the car isn't what i thought it was originally, and it has been driving me nuts!!

I hit a bitch of a pothole driving up to Pittsburgh back in May and i had the Audi dealer inspect things to see if anything was damaged - they said everything was fine (except for my bent rim) and that the control arms were still good.

Could someone PLEASE tell me what this sound is? I've ruled out brake pads rattling as it still occurs under heavy braking. You may need to turn your speakers up (promise, this isn't a "screamer"), but the sound is really noticable starting at the :20 second mark.

Is your fender liner lose? Belly pan lose? Tools in the glove box? Can people hear it when you drive by or only from inside the car? Look under the passanger side dash for anything out of the ordinary, like a baby. 1.8T air boxes have feet that slide into a rubber bushing that holds it to the frame. If the 2.8 is similar, wasnt seated right I guess it could bounce on the metal frame. Can you feel it or just hear it?

Your thought about the fender liner was what i was thinking too when i first started diagnosing the problem. But the liner is secure. I'm running a K&N intake, so it's not the air box. I was thinking belly pan also, but i haven't had the car on ramps to really check that out. I don't know if the sound is audible from outside the car or not.

I can slightly feel it in my gas pedal, but only over harder bumps. But that can be totally unrelated since i normally feel some vibration in my gas pedal since i'm lowered. However, your logic seems to be on par with mine in that it sounds more like a rapping/flapping sound as opposed to something metallic. It's definitely not coming from within the cabin, but more so right in front of, and possibly underneath, the passenger-side firewall.

What kills me the most is that i posted up with an "I Have This Sound" thread on here and on AZ, and i included audio, and you are the ONLY person to reply so far. It's frustrating because i really want to get this fixed and everytime someone posts something like this, the replies are mostly speculation (some are accurate), and people tell you that they can't diagnose anything over the internet and that they'd really need to hear it. So, i supply audio for my problem and people pass right over it without any input. [/rant]

And it's definitely not a baby, either

Behind the wheel lining in the door part of the arch there are a couple of things that live in there which you may have dislodged and are just bouncing around in there.

Thanks Doc. I'll pull the wheel liner this weekend and take a peek behind there as well.
