Default what is the potential of the stock turbo?

I have a 5-spd. 2001 A4 1.8T Quattro. So far I have aftermarket slotted/dimpled rotors & a EVO Sport intake. I would like to know if the stock turbo has the potential of increasing a significant amount of power. Any suggestions? I thought about upgrading to a bigger pulley, cams, intake/exhaust manifold, downpipe, FMIC, turbo inlet hose, ECU, etc.

this has all the info you need.... but on stock turbo

bigger pulley, you would want smaller pulleys... or lighter weight ones for less rotational mass, but not worth it
cams, not needed on stock power
intake/exhaust manifold, not worth it, unless you get the aeb head... iirc, better flow
downpipe, they say about 10whp, iirc, couple that with 2.5-3 inch exhaust and let the turbo breath
FMIC, couple that with water/meth and lower you iat's for cleaner power
turbo inlet hose, not going to do a ton, i have one, but people say the factory one will work fine
ECU, good for up to 214/246cp.......

all that should net you between 150 and 170awhp

I'd say close to 190awhp.

The problem is that it really doesn't flow enough air to make major power. Have you ever looked at it or seen pictures of it? The inlet is about the size of a quarter! (maybe a teeny bit bigger)

If I were building am '01 k03 car here is the mod list I would go with (for the engine):
GIAC Chip
lemmiwinks to tune it with (you wont want to mess with this)
Snow Performance W/M injection
Boost Factory SMIC
Labree HFC
Techtronics 2.5" borla exhaust
Custom cai (with the 'real heat shield' from AZ)

--------------

With that said, it's really not worth it to build up a k03 past exhaust/chip IMO. The power gained is just not worth the money. With your car you could actually do the diode mod (CincyTT will chime in here, I'm sure ) and you wouldn't even need to buy the chip.

think the most on a a4 was 200awhp by Mike back in the day. and i think a jetta has since surpassed that. since you have an 01, you can tweak everything more and get the most out of the setup and have a k03s. but i still dont think its worth spending all that money to get 200whp. i would go BT

AWE sells one but i wouldn't go that route. your gona spend almost as much as an elim setup and only have at most ~250hp.

the thing is that yeah I would like to have a lot of power but from what I've heard, any bigger turbo than a k04 will cause serious reliability problems down the road and I don't want to have to deal with that.

with quality parts, there really won't be any issues with realiability........

bt + upgraded internals + good fmic + good clutch + upgraded fpr = good dd

you get issues when you skimp on the important stuff

any of the elims are really reliable. just make sure you use Eurodyne (CTapp) or Unitronics for tuning and you'll have a reliable dd. get Mika or upsolute and your gona hate yourself
