i just finished up my timing belt and waterpump chage on my a4 2day and i came across this it looks aftermarket and im wondering what it is that got changed.

It's a diverter valve. It opens a pathway for your boost to escape between the turbo and throtle body when you let off the gas to keep from stalling the turbo. Thats definitely aftermarket.

 

hmmm thanx for that it was my initial idea as to what it is

no idea where it came from or if there is any benefit to it over stock?

 

Yeah it'll hold up to the boost of a chip or whatever setup you have. The stock dv has a weak spring and uses a rubber diaphram instead of a metal piston that can tear.

 

ahh thanx im fairly sure the car hasnt been chipped but if i ever go that route its good too know i should be fine
