what is this??
this little valve sits right on top of the airbox on the 1.8t. it makes a really loud ticking sound like valves in need of a tune-up but then sometimes it stops and doesnt tick at all. its kinda of weird. i'm just wondering what it is and is it normal for it to tick like that all the time?

RE: what is this??
are you sure that's the pcv valve? i tried looking for a pcv valve for the 2.8 but apparently we dont' have one and auditech79 said so too. my 2.8 has the same thing right above the airbox

so the black thing under my circle is the pcv? ok cool, i'm gonna have to change that probably lol. but the question still remains, is that thing above the a pcv because it definitely looks different than what's in my pic

Come on children
There's different types of PCV valves, but they all look somewhat similar. If you guys don't think you have PCV valves, try finding a PCV return (as I said earlier), I'm not exactly sure what it looks like on a 2.8, but here's one on a 1.8:

RE: what is this??
that is not a pcv valve, it is not even remotly connected to any oil at all, the pcv system has a "pancake valve" either on the intake of he turbo, or behind the cam chain/tensioner area.
for once i can say that you guys are wrong, a pcv system has hard metal pipe going into the intake
