I think your best bet is to go to the SCCA website (Sport Car Club of America) and look for events in your region. There should be contact information for the liaison or chairperson for your area and they should be able to tell you about any cool local car clubs in your area or how to find events. I just found these races through the Car Club at my university.

For anyone who wants to learn better car control during skids or drifts this is a really good article. I found it after the race when I was all jazzed up.
