Ryan,

W/ regard to your original question about the headlights: shortly after I bought mine, windshield wiper switch stalk kicked the bucket. Its possible that your headlight switch stalk is on the way out as well.

Not an expensive part, but the steering wheel has to come off to replace it so labor is gonna kill ya if that is indeed the problem. GL!

but it's something that you can do your self if you have a few hours since it's your first time. there's extra steps in the diy but it shows how to take the switch out

Called the dealer today. $86.80 for a remote, and $72.00 for a key. Ridiculously high in my opinion. I need a second key anyway, because I only have the one, and I don't have a valet key or anything either.

Has anyone ever had a locksmith cut a key for an Audi? Does it HAVE to be done at the dealer?

Doesn't HAVE to be. You can buy blank keys on ebay and have a locksmith cut them.

I took my remote apart. Here's the info.

FCC ID: MZ2 410 819 6 4
4D0 837.231D 41.98 (what does the 41.98 part mean?)

Do I have to exactly match the numbers to a new one on ebay? I ask because I found one that is:

FCC ID: MZ2 410 819 6 3
4D0 837.231E

Does the new remote numbers have to match exactly or can a similar one be programmed to work?

Then, if I can program a new remote, will the original remote still work?

Remote start, roll-up windows, just throwing out some ideas.

just hold the key in the lock or unlock position to roll the windows up and down.
