Default water belt question

so I took my car to the dealer for the warranty timing belt inspection. the timing belt assembly was fine. anyways they tell me my water pump belt was cracked. I thought the water pump was run by the timing belt, or am I wrong? Also anyone have a write-up on doing the can seals? I need to hire one of their techs. they had that thing apart and back together plus washed and vacuumed in an hour. might just be worth it when it's time for a clutch instead of me taking a weekend.

The water pump is not run by the timing belt. There is a separate belt that runs it.

On a 1.8T, the water pump is driven by the Timing belt.

The water pump is NOT run by the timing belt. The oil pump is ran by the timing belt.

AWM, AUG, and AMB 1.8T water pumps are run by the timing belt. AEB and ATW 1.8Ts are run by a drive belt. So, I guess the real question is what model does the O.P. have?

Here's a pic of my AWM code 1.8T, below. The brand new toothed pulley above the crank pulley to the right of the pic is the new water pump I installed during my t-belt service.
