It's not so much the weight but the fact that it's less aerodynamic/more drag for the car.

I was just around Redlands area today off the 10.

+1. Weight isn't really the issue, IIRC my roof bars only weigh a few pounds. But between them, the bike rack i have on top of them, and the bike that goes on top of that, its a wicked amount of drag, which KILLS the mileage.

Well like I said I'm not gonna use them for anything, just for looks LoL... And I don't think 21 mpg to 20 mpg is really noticeable

^ It does look nice.

I usually get about 230-240 locals and freeways. I used to be able to get close to 270ish before the rack (with a full tank of gas).

Perhaps it could be the O2 but I've been getting bad MPG after the custom tuning.

Well last time I filled up, I refilled at 1/4 tank exactly and my trip odometer read 241.9 miles, so idk what that translates to for a full tank but either way its not bad, and that's with extra drag cuz windows were constantly rolled down do to bad regulator, but they have been replaced now so hopefully my mileage will go up... But either way, I would like to get my hands on one

WTF?? 230-270 miles per tank? Do 1.8T's have a way small tank or something? My 2.8 has a 15.4 gal tank and I can usually count on 340 miles per tank.

umm i hvae 12v 2.8... subs a bunch of excess weight in my car always (other people) and like i said had to drive everywhere with the windows down which creates drag hence bad gas mileage... and also like i said i filled up at 1/4 tank too
